I blew my knee out, and am finally cleared to start exercise again, I've been out of a healthy environment for about 9 months and gained 45 lbs. What would be the best route for me to take to get back on track again. I have a membership to Bally's and was considering a trainer? Thanks in advance for your help.

Take it slow and do more low impact stuff. Swimming is good. Bicycle. Weights.

Low impact aerobic workouts with light weights to get you rolling again.

Biking, walking, swimming, or something similar to start. Do some circuit training (low weight and higher reps) with weights to get back the endurance in your muscles.

Perhaps more importantly is your diet. Watch what you are eating. 45 lbs will be gone in no time.

Good luck!

Save your money. Lots of good suggestions already posted here. Get in a routine and stick to it. Consistency is very important.

If you are not seeing improvement after 6 months, then you may want to consider hiring a trainer.

Coming off an injury - I would get a trainer.

Unfortunately there area lot of not very good trainers out there.
Might contact the sports department of your local college.
